Taking Every Thought Captive

The Lord really does know our every thought. If we truly believe that, then do our thoughts please Him, or would we rather keep them to ourselves?

I am reminded of the story in Genesis 17 and 18 when God told Abraham that he and Sarah she would conceive a son named Isaac. When Sarah heard the promise, she laughed in her heart at the idea of giving birth to Isaac, but then afterward denied that she laughed. The Lord confronted her and said, “No, you did laugh.” There is no thought or action we can ever hide from God.

This devotional is simply an encouragement for all of us to guard our thoughts and submit them to the Lord daily, for both honoring Him and for repentance. I like the Passion Translation of 2 Cor 10:5, which says, “We capture, like prisoners of war, every thought, and insist that it bow in obedience to the Anointed One.” Be blessed as you allow the Holy Spirit to renew your mind and thoughts daily!

Yours in Christ,
