Releasing Joy

I enjoy seeing people filled with laughter and joy. I have several ways of helping people break out of stress and discouragement. Following are a few things that work for me.

When getting on a crowded elevator I will say: “I guess you are wondering why I called this meeting?” This works almost all the time. Some people laugh, some smile, some share something funny they have encountered. By the time they exit the elevator, their day has included a few minutes of joy and laughter. They may be headed into a difficult time. Now, they have had at least a few minutes of fun during their day.

At other times, I may see someone who seems sad or stressed out. I will say to them, “Are we having fun yet?” The person is usually surprised by my question. They usually laugh at the very thought of having fun! The enemy desires to isolate people and plant thoughts in their minds of discouragement. My small remarks or questions almost always evoke a smile or change of countenance.

You would be amazed at the number of people you encounter who need to experience joy in their lives. From checkout clerks at the grocery store to toll booth attendants, people can experience the joy of Jesus through you. Reach out with a kind remark to people you meet. Let God release joy to someone through you!

Yours in Christ,
