Recently, the Lord reminded me of a basic principle when praying for people to be healed. A typical prayer is usually: “Father, I ask you to heal this person in the name of Jesus.” I seldom saw people healed using this kind of prayer. Jesus reminded me that He dealt with sickness and disease on the cross. The Bible gives a promise of God’s healing power. “Beloved, I pray that in all respects you may prosper and be in good health as your soul prospers” (3 John 2 NASV). It is a finished work!
The New Testament does not record Jesus nor His disciples asking God to heal. Instead, they spoke to the infirmity and commanded it to leave their bodies. Joe Wadlinger’s book on healing describes a prayer that was prayed over him and resulted in his healing.
“In the name of Jesus, I speak to this back to be healed. Pain, inflammation go! Nerves, vertebrate, muscles, and discs be made whole. Body line up with the Word of God.” [i]
The people praying prayed as though they had the authority to heal in the name of Jesus! Joe’s healing began manifesting as he continued to believe in faith. Often, healing is a process and the answer comes over time. I believe as we pray for ourselves and others in faith, we will see healings manifest. Consider these steps:
(1) Believe that it is God’s will that you are healed (3 John 2 NASV).
(2) Speak to the infirmity in the name of Jesus and command it to leave.
(3) Begin praising the Lord for the healing you are receiving.
Jesus still heals today! Watch as the Lord releases His healing power into the body of the person you are praying for. Let Him use you to pray powerful prayers as you command infirmity to leave and healing to manifest!
Yours in Christ,
