Ordered Steps

There is a scripture that I am reminded of daily. The steps of the God-pursuing ones follow firmly in the footsteps of the Lord, and God delights in every step they take to follow him (Psalm 37:23 Passion). I make it my goal to apply this word while praying each morning. My morning prayer often goes like this: “Holy Spirit, I pray that you will guide, guard and direct my every step today. Order my steps so that I am in the right place at the right time, doing and saying the right things and encountering the right people.”

One morning the Lord spoke to me and said: “Dale, I have orchestrated events and encounters today in answer to your prayer.” When the Lord spoke those words to me, I was immediately reminded of the story of Isaac in the Old Testament. The steps of Abraham’s servant needed to be led by the Lord. The servant’s footsteps, led by God, would take him to find the wife for Isaac. First, Abraham’s servant had to agree to accept this assignment. Next, he had to pray that he would recognize the right girl. Then, she had to agree to leave her family and go with these strangers. During this time, Isaac was out in the field praying and fellowshipping with the Lord. I believe Isaac was praying for God’s choice for a wife.

It is impossible to remember all the times I knew my steps were being ordered by the Lord. I knew that He had a plan and purpose for my life. I realize that God watches over His word to perform it and delights in its way.

You may want to pray and ask the Lord for a revelation of the steps He is orchestrating for you. You will be surprised as the Lord causes you to be at the right place, at the right time and encounter the right people. Your destiny is in front of you. Follow firmly in the footsteps of the Lord. Watch as you see Him delight in each step you take!

Yours in Christ,
