In Everything Give Thanks

This morning as I reflected on all my many blessings, I was simply overwhelmed! God’s goodness is all around us. Yet, the media paints such a negative picture of life today. Listening to the reports of murder, crime, drugs, and hatred can cloud our perspective of reality. We must be a people who purposely choose to see the blessing God has for His people.

As I focused on the blessings of the Lord, I realized how thankful I am for salvation. Jesus gave me His righteousness as a new creation. Second, I am thankful for a wonderful family, all serving the Lord. I am also thankful for so many wonderful friends that God has brought into my life.

The following blessings are those we generally take for granted, but which are vitality important in our life. These are just a few things we can be thankful for each day.

  • Clean, fresh water delivered right to our home.

  • Electricity that gives us light and runs all our appliances.

  • Air-conditioning that keeps us cool during these hot summer days!

  • Natural gas that supplies the fuel for home heating and cooking our food.

  • Automobiles that can carry us to almost anywhere we want to go.

  • Airplanes that can take us to the other side of the world in a few hours!

  • Communication systems for phones, computers, and TV’s with amazing quality.

  • Satellites that carry this communication to the whole world.

Finally, I am thankful for the opportunity to pray for you. My prayer is for each one who reads this devotion to ask the Lord to reveal His blessings in your life! Remembering these blessings can overpower the negative reports you may hear daily. Remember, in everything give thanks!

Yours in Christ,
