Learning From Past Experiences

I often look back and recognize many times of learning that I experienced throughout my life. Some of these experiences included reading, hearing, seeing and teaching. The Bible says that we learn little by little, precept upon precept, here a little, there a little (Isaiah 28:10). For example, when I finished my tour with the Air Force, I went to work with a small aerospace company. Although it was a small company, it had all the various functions of a large company. These functions included sales, marketing, purchasing, quality control, a machine shop, a sheet metal fabricating facility, testing and assembly and various levels of management.

After a couple of years, the company filed bankruptcy. At that time, I had to look for a new job. The Lord was faithful! He provided an excellent job with a large corporation. As a result of the training from the old company, I was very familiar with the various functions of the new company. My experience prepared me for this new adventure. I was able to put into practice a lot of what I had learned at the small company. Later, I was awarded the “Man of the Year”. In fact, I received this award several times over the next few years. The award was given in recognition of success in their cost reduction program.

I encourage you to approach each day asking the Lord what He wants you to learn that day. I don’t want my life to be an exercise in futility. My prayer is that I live a fruitful life. I ask the Lord to help me learn things that bless the Kingdom and bring to God all the Glory. Ask the Lord to do the same thing for you!

Yours in Christ,
